Members of my staff and customers alike have commented on how amazed they are by my productivity over the week.

Not to boast, but to share the truth that sometimes I fail to appreciate all the hard work that has allowed me to have a greater influence on the world.

So, I’ll be spilling the beans in this piece.

Actually, you’ve probably heard these things before; they’re not secrets at all.

Be that as it may, my sincere wish is that this may serve as the catalyst you need to realize a crucial concept.

Why Should You Succeed?

I refuse to be a part of the productivity cult, which advocates doing things only to check a box or boost your ego.

Despite my current stance, I must admit that I was once a follower of this optimization cult.

Getting things done because you feel like it or because it’s the right thing to do seems like it’s missing the mark.

We become mindless cogs in the wheel, producing nothing of value; this causes exhaustion and a loss of purpose.

I am more concerned with significance and effect.

For me, the most important thing is that I am on a mission to make a difference by encouraging others all around the globe to embrace uncertainty.

My podcast, this blog, the Fearless Living Academy (including all of its courses), the Fearless Mastery coaching group, and the transformations taking place there are all part of my quest to fulfill this vision.

The effect I am dedicated to will be served by their projects.

Because the difference I want to make in the world is important to me, I am able to get things done.

That must be kept in mind.

Objective Establishment and Consistent Strategy

It’s easy to lose track of our destination in the deluge of emails, texts, and jobs that we have to do.

As a result, a lot of work goes down the drain.

To maximize your influence, establish goals to guide your actions.

Allow me to explain:

  • Once a year in December, I take stock of the last year and think about the goals I want to achieve in the next.

  • On a monthly basis: I assess my progress from the previous month and establish new goals to work toward at the beginning of the new month.

I try to coordinate them with my annual goals to the best of my ability.

  • Once a week: On Mondays, I take stock of the preceding seven days and make plans for the next one.

Every week, I strive to come closer to my monthly goals by coordinating these with them.

  • Every day: I lay down my goals for the day.

Not every time, but that’s besides the point.

    Oh, I see.

In addition, I do my best to coordinate my daily and weekly objectives.

Even if I am bogged down with emails and errands, I can be certain that I am making progress toward what really important since this is in line with my long-term goals.

There are reviews included into this straightforward method, as you can easily see.

They serve as a reminder when I go off course and a means to recover.

Taking Responsibility

In addition to reviewing my progress and establishing goals, I also hold myself responsible to my team, my coach, and a group of friends who are also entrepreneurs.

If it helps, I’ll do things to make myself responsible to my loved ones (in the case of fitness challenges) or to the general public.

In a recent podcast, I discussed how accountability isn’t about being hard on myself when I fail to accomplish a goal.

It is assisting me in objectively assessing potential areas of derailment (discussed more in the section on Continuous Learning below), roadblocks (“Working with my Blockers” section below), and areas requiring greater dedication.

When I feel like vegging out, accountability pushes me to go for my loftier goals.

Resistance Exercises with a Focus

I find that concentration sessions help me overcome reluctance, which happens often.

In both Fearless Mastery and my Fearless Living Academy, I have scheduled concentration periods.

They are quite effective.

The basic idea is that you and another person or individuals join a video conversation, and then at the outset of the session, everyone declares what they’re going to concentrate on.

Turn on silent, zero in on the thing (or things) you’re fighting, and then, after the call is over, describe what happened.

Even when I put up a fight, it manages to move me.

I find it helpful to pay attention to the bodily sensations of doubt while I’m working with resistance.

Often, it will make my chest feel tight and my heart feel vulnerable.

Just a sense of unease; nothing wrong with it.

I just breathe and surrender to it.

I then go back to my job.

Recurring Patterns

Planning takes me no more than five minutes in the mornings, as I said before.

To make sure I’m not forgetting anything crucial, I find it helpful to mark items off my calendar.

I will postpone any work that I know I will encounter resistance with until my daily concentration period.

After I finish deleting texts and emails, I will begin working on my first block.

The remainder of my day is structured according to my schedule; if I have a lot of meetings and phone calls, I don’t have much time to concentrate.

Perhaps a little morning session and another in the late afternoon to concentrate.

I make an effort to set aside sufficient time for critical tasks while my call volume is low, allowing me to make progress toward my goals.

Making time for meditation, exercise, and self-care is always a priority for me.

Before I sign off for the day, I do a quick review and write a status update for my team.

Then we’ll spend time with our loved ones.

This is my typical day, however it might vary greatly whether I have visitors from out of town, am traveling to make a presentation, or am leading a retreat.

Managing My Blockers

Rather than disregarding anything that is holding me back, I’ve found it helpful to examine it closely.

This includes situations when I am not making progress or am actively trying to avoid dealing with certain issues.

Instead of seeing the obstacle as a flaw in my character that needs reprimand or correction, this encourages me to take what I can from it and utilize it to improve.

First, I’ll give it some thought; if that doesn’t work, I’ll consult my coach (we can chat about coaching options if you’re interested).

Can you tell me anything about this blocker?

In what ways am I scared?

What emotions does this evoke in you?

Then, when I feel a roadblock coming on, I will make an effort to be more self-aware.

There are many things I can do if I am mindful in that moment, like breathing, showing compassion if I am feeling something, making a new choice, and many more.

With time and effort put in, this obstacle is gradually fading, and I am finding that this aspect of my life is becoming simpler.

Ongoing Education

Every challenge I face, as you can see in the previous part, teaches me something.

Therefore, I make an effort to learn from my experiences and approach them with an open mind.

I mostly do this by writing reviews.

As you can see from the “Setting Targets & Regular Planning” part up there, I evaluate on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.

Every day’s assessment is short (about 5 minutes), every week and month are similarly brief (10–15 minutes), but I want to devote more time (days or more than a week) to the annual evaluation.

All of this implies that I have a knack for noticing and making the most of whatever is going on around me.

Even when I mess up, I still learn something new since I’m not flawless.

Everything has taught me something.

My understanding of life and my proficiency in all of these areas are both enhanced by this.

And I find that to be much more satisfying than getting things done.
