In modern times, shamanism is one of the terms and practices that is discussed the least when relating to anything having to do with healing, spirituality, or the New Age movement.

In spite of this, shamanism is a profound, time-honored, and ancestral tradition that incorporates both theory and practice.

To equate it with other therapeutic procedures, treatments, or spiritual viewpoints is more than just a term or a pseudoscientific phrase; it is a concept that goes beyond words.

It is not just a hobby or a pastime; it is fundamental to who we are.

The reality is that an increasing number of individuals are becoming aware of their shamanic heritage, including the intrinsic skills and abilities as well as the higher perspective knowledge that comes along with it.

If we take a peek at the younger generation, we will see that shamanic methods of being and thinking are being shown often.

Having advanced levels of compassion toward other people, animals, and nature; communicating with plants or trees; avoiding eating animals because of the belief that “animals are our friends;” and displaying empathy that borders on psychic ability or intuitive wisdom on par with the most advanced level of a spiritual master…

These shamanic indicators are regularly seen in youngsters, and they usually refer to things that many of us adults are unable to perceive or understand.

Therefore, before discussing the five indicators that a youngster may be on their way to becoming a shaman, it is essential to first describe the role of a shaman.

It is also important to take a look at certain shamanic rituals that are actually and practically carried out in the world today.

What is a Shaman?

A shaman is a kind of healer as well as a link and conduit for spirits.

Shamans may be either men or women.

Those who want to play the part of the shaman must first learn how to channel spirit and healing energy for the betterment of themselves, other people, and the natural environment (also known as Mother Earth).

There is a significant emphasis placed on giving without expecting anything in return and providing service to shamanic practitioners and masters.

As a result of the growing number of individuals who are becoming aware of their spiritual abilities, divine sense of life purpose or mission, and sincere desire to channel healing energy and power, it is quite simple to use the phrase flippantly.

Nevertheless, in today’s world there are a lot of healers, therapists, and energy workers (may God and Goddess bless them all!).

Because of this, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the distinctions that exist between being an emotion-centric spiritual soul and/or a healer and being a shaman.

Shamans were traditionally considered to be their tribe’s most wise elders, particularly in more ancient times.

As a result of living in tune with the land and the earth, a shaman would arise; this is where the term “medicine man” comes from.

(Medicine man or woman.) Someone who worked integrally with the natural world and earth and was valued for their connection to these things would discover how to channel healing energy while also connecting to spirit, spiritual beings, and the unseen realms.

This information was transmitted from generation to generation throughout the course of time by way of instructors, elders, and rituals.

Therefore, the shaman’s abilities and understanding sprang straight from the spirit, the source, or the divine in the beginning.

Any person in today’s world has the potential to become a shaman, provided that they have obtained their education, wisdom, and initiation from a genuine master, teacher, or elder, or straight from the lineage.

In point of fact, every single one of us is a shaman because we all share shamanic roots; that is, we all derive from the same original point.

The only thing that keeps us from getting in touch with our authentic selves is society.

In shamanism, one of the most common basic practices and guiding principles is referred to as “roots,” and the phrase “roots” is often employed.

This is the link that mankind has established with the planet.

Our roots are as extensive, interconnected, powerful, and firmly established as the roots of the world’s most notable trees.

Practices Relating to Shamanism

Since shamanism can be traced all the way back to the beginning of our time spent on earth, the practices of shamanism vary from those that were taken from our ancestors, who learned directly from Spirit, to those that have been handed down through the generations.

In spite of what many sources may indicate, there is no such thing as a correct or incorrect kind of shamanism.

Furthermore, a significant number of shamanic practitioners, masters, teachers, and healers have obtained their gifts and the ability to heal directly from those who are connected.

i.e., those individuals who have also received instruction from genuine shamans.

This is the foundation upon which shamanic initiation is built, and it is the process by which individuals become shamans.

They get their knowledge, powers, and abilities from individuals who have been properly schooled and attuned to the appropriate bloodline.

A “lineage” is a term used to describe any school of shamanism that derives its roots directly from the earth, spirit, or divine and that maintains a relationship to the land and the local community.

Shamanic activities include entering a trance-like condition for the purpose of gaining insight, healing, or connecting to some higher power or spiritual entity; performing ceremonies; healing oneself or others; healing the earth; divination; channeling; and mediumship; and healing the earth.

The use of particular resins, tree spirits, music, and song, as well as working with herbs, plants, and flowers, crystals, and natural gemstones, are all fundamental components of shamanic practices and concepts.

In addition, both the natural world and the community play an important role in shamanic practice.

They are both fundamental ideas and realizations about the way we, as stewards of planet Earth, need to be conducting our lives.

We could not continue living if nature did not exist.

Healing, gaining insight, and living our best possible life are all enhanced by the power of community.

There is a wealth of knowledge to be discovered in the depths of the natural world, and society helps us understand our place in the greater scheme of things in life.

We are not just isolated people but rather related to one another and a component of something much larger.

We can live in tune and harmony with Mother Earth and the people who live on her if we have this knowledge and put it into practice through activities such as ceremonies, circles, music, and shared healing practices.

This knowledge also allows us to live in harmony and with spiritual awareness within ourselves.

To continue, let’s talk about the shamanic calling.

Is It Unavoidable To Receive A Shamanic Calling At Some Point In Your Life?

One may claim that shamanic calling is an unavoidable component of existence if one is well-versed in the doctrines and procedures associated with shamanism.

Why?

To tell you the truth, I think that was said before.

Since we are all born on this planet with a soul, a spirit, and an intrinsic connection to the environment around us, we may all consider ourselves to be shamans.

Structures of society that had been created by humans did not appear until many hundreds of years later.

Once upon a time, none of the factors that have since been put in place to maintain our state of disconnection, which includes our disconnection from our authentic selves as well as our disconnection from our love and respect for the natural world and the people who live on it, were there.

It’s possible that this “brief separation” was really rather necessary in the long run.

It gave us the room, the insight, and the lessons we needed to learn and develop, ultimately allowing us to return to our authentic selves and our natural frequency.

This natural frequency is, of course, reflected in the traits, abilities, and behaviors that we witness in children, especially those youngsters who are just beginning to awaken to their shamanic and spiritual talents.

The Five Most Important Childhood Indications of a Shamanic Calling

1. Deep Empathy

Children who are born with an inherent shamanic calling and life path have a profound capacity for empathy and the innate ability to connect with others on an incredible level.

These children are referred to as shamanic.

They have the capacity to experience what it is like to be a tree, plant species, or animal, and they do it with the utmost compassion.

Children raised in shamanic practices often have heightened levels of sensitivity and experience feelings that go beyond the ordinary.

They might get unsettled if they see something aggressive or cruel.

When other children see something on television or in a movie that causes them to wince or be briefly horrified, children who have a shamanic calling allow such things to persist in their minds.

This is in contrast to other children.

They are able to fully comprehend what it is like to be in the position of another person and are profoundly shaken when they see the anguish and distress of others.

The capacity to understand and share the experiences of another person is what we mean when we talk about empathy.

In the context of shamanism, this is the exact definition of what a shaman does: they establish connections with the spirit world, with other people or animals, and in some manner with nature.

A shaman is someone who acts as a catalyst for change, healing, or development by using the particular empathy and psychic or spiritual skills that they possess.

Connection, as well as the sensations of oneness and connection that are a part of empathy, are related to this concept.

Sign #2: Clairvoyance, Claircognizance, Clairsentience, and Clairaudience

When it comes to shamanic awakening in infancy, the “4 C’s” are an essential component.

A few of them have been discussed in some detail before.

Let’s be specific about these presents:

The ability to see clearly via clairvoyance: The capacity to see things, such as covert goals, objectives, and subtle sensations in the physical world; or the capacity to perceive auras and spiritual energy

Many people who are clairvoyant have the ability to read the energy of other people, “know” when someone else is unwell, or, to be more precise, exactly which bodily part or physical organ is not functioning properly, and tune in to the mental state of other individuals.

Dreams and visions that foretell the future are common outcomes of clairvoyance.

The capacity to perceive things from the spiritual realm or to acquire aural information from more subtle planes of being is referred to as “clairaudience.”

Children who claim to have clairaudient abilities often assert that they can hear animals, plants, and trees speaking to them.

In addition to this, these youngsters have a strong connection with the divine, their higher selves, or their spirit guides.

The experience of life is multi-dimensional, and the abilities that shamans may access when in trance or while practicing mediumship are on the same wavelength as clairaudience.

The capacity to tune into the feelings of other people in the same way empaths do and to feel people, places, and natural phenomena on a profound level is known as clairsentience.

They have the ability to feel and sense the energy of a setting, physical area, animal, plant, or person.

Even though they haven’t been instructed on the rationale behind it yet, children who are born with clairsentience have a strong connection to their intuition and gut feelings.

The term “claircognizance” literally translates to “clear knowledge.” There is a spiritual understanding that is independent of the need for material evidence or proof.

People or children who have this skill often have sudden epiphanies in which they learn profound truths about the past, the present, or the future.

This may also be interpreted as having prophetic or very meaningful dreams (premonitions).

It is also common to have psychic abilities and the capacity to “read behind the scenes.”

If a person is given a shamanic gift when they are young, it is a clear indicator that they are meant to awaken to their spiritual powers and be a conduit for some higher healing force in some manner, shape, or form.

This is true regardless of the shamanic gift they were given.

3. A Strong Connection to the Natural World

Another solid sign that a kid will become in touch with their shamanic origins at some point in their life is if they have a natural connection with the environment, as well as the inhabitants of the soil and the plant species that inhabit it.

It’s safe to say that the majority of kids have a soft spot for the great outdoors, but what we’re talking about here goes much beyond a simple appreciation for the natural world.

A profoundly emotional, mental, and spiritual experience, the sensation of oneness with nature and all of her inhabitants is one that people who have a vocation in life to practice shamanism often have.

It has deep roots in the capacity for empathy.

In a nutshell, these young people have a lot in common with the characters (Na’vi) from the movie Avatar.

Just picture the “Tree of Souls,” because that’s precisely the kind of world that shamanic kids live in.

4. Concern for Other People

Those who have a shamanic life path laid out tend to have significant interests and hobbies related to helping other people.

When a kid is born with the vibration of a shaman at their very center, it is almost impossible to teach them to lack feelings of love and compassion, as well as a sense of stewardship.

The light that emanates from a shamanic child is powerful, regardless of the social structures that are there or the number of individuals who have different points of view and energy frequencies.

This light is the acknowledgement that people are one with and on an equal footing with the plants, trees, and creatures that inhabit the land.

They have a limitless capacity for compassion and empathy, which they demonstrate by seeing our earth and the natural world as interconnected.

Even if they are in a typical classroom setting with 33 other students and 30 of them are arguing that certain human acts or actions are okay, the shaman kid will know deep down in their being that the other students are mistaken.

Their compassion and their willingness to feel for other sentient beings and Mother Earth are unstoppable by anything.

They also constantly adhere to their own opinions and follow their instincts when it comes to topics and ideas related to humanitarianism.

Something about them may serve as a great source of motivation.

5. You are Wise Beyond Your Years

Last but not least, it is said that many shamanic children have wisdom that is much beyond their years.

This may be interpreted in a variety of ways, from the student being recognized for their intellectual and academic growth as well as their maturity in the classroom to the student being acknowledged for their particular perceptive, compassionate, and empathetic talents.

When they are younger, children that have deep shamanic roots will always be more successful than their peers in some manner.

There is often a dynamic interaction and “overlap” of energies as well.

One example of this would be having exceptional emotional, compassionate, and humanitarian capacities in addition to having the greatest degree of mathematical or musical comprehension and ability.

Another example of this would be achieving a high level of success in English literature and poetry while also having the ability to connect with plants, flowers, or trees (hearing the wisdom from the trees).

During childhood and adolescence, of course, it is impossible for anybody to know for certain whether or not a person is going to develop into a great spiritual teacher and shamanic healer (unless a person is brought up in a community with others who share similar values or is exposed to this way of life from a young age).

However, it is essential that one continually be on the lookout for the indicators.

There is a substantial correlation between intuitive abilities and wise behavior in infancy.

Numerous young people who have a shamanic vocation are gifted with a singular intuition and do very well in the domains of creativity, imagination, and the arts.

They have a deep appreciation for the abstract, art, music, and nature, and they often draw their knowledge and unique insights from these sources.

Conclusion

There are so many indicators of a shamanic calling beginning in infancy that, in all honesty, we could write a whole book on the topic!

The beauty of having a shamanic calling is that it will never leave you and will always be a part of your authentic self.

Shamanism is an innate part of all of our beings since there is no way to escape our souls or our destinies.

“The Shaman” refers to our origins.
