If you are reading this, it means that you are seeking a solution to break out of the mediocrity or outright failure that you are now experiencing in your life.
It’s not a problem if you confess it.
There is absolutely no guilt in looking for a solution to a problem.
It is dishonorable to try to cover up a problem while maintaining the appearance that everything is well.
Now that we’re both on the same page, I want you to pay close attention to the chair you’re using to read this chapter.
It looks to be quite robust.
Obviously, it can support your weight without any problems.
It is doing its duties well, but I wanted to make sure you were aware that you had an important choice to make just before you sat down to read this chapter.
In point of fact, everything happened so rapidly that you most likely were not even conscious of its passage.
Nevertheless, you have to choose one of those options.
What exactly am I referring to?
I’m referring to your evaluation of the chair’s capability to support your weight.
The significance of this cannot be overstated since, if you sat down on the chair without giving it any thought and without even considering whether it is strong enough to support your weight or if it is in the correct position, you would most likely end up on your bottom.
You run the risk of injuring yourself.
The reason you passed through the sensation of sitting down so fast was because of your belief, and now you can read this chapter.
You are under the impression that the chair can support your weight.
You get the impression that it is in sufficient condition to look after you and protect you from any potential damage that may come your way.
I’m going to take you through this activity so that you can see for yourself why having faith is so important to your day-to-day life.
You are always guilty of doing this.
You are driven by your convictions.
You live by belief.
Your life is held together by nothing more than the beliefs you hold dear.
It influences the choices you make, which in turn make your life possible.
Why do you continue to believe in things that keep you down if you think that something as simple as this chair can support you?
It’s because you trusted the incorrect things that you’re having any kind of difficulty in any way, shape, or form.
I am aware that it causes pain and that it smells bad.
Nobody likes to hear this because it ultimately leads to the conclusion that we should all wake up, and nobody wants to hear that.
We are the ones who write the script for our own lives.
That decision is made by us.
We make that choice, and nothing hurts more than coming face to face with the realization that you made decisions that were less than ideal.
It’s because you went in the wrong direction that you’re having problems in your personal life, such as with your relationships, your career, your health, how much weight you carry, and how you appear.
It is no one’s goal to be incorrect.
The good news is that you don’t have to base your decisions just on how you feel.
There is no obligation for you to continue to be confined, or at the very least, to feel trapped.
You may, instead, use the power of belief in order to improve the choices that you make.
You have come to terms with the fact that the outside world is indifferent to your emotions.
It actually couldn’t care less about how you are feeling at this very moment in time.
Do you have any idea what it takes into consideration?
It all comes down to your actions.
You will be able to improve your decision-making if you take the time to organize your beliefs.
This involves making better decisions in order to improve the situation in which your life finds itself.
Your expectations and assumptions are influenced by what you believe. begin with that.
What aspects of yourself do you take for granted to be correct?
This is your life, your position in the world, and your ability.
Take responsibility for all of it.
What do you want to accomplish with your life?
Additionally, this is a belief.
The good news is that just as you are able to embrace some ideas, this situation also allows you to.
They are available to be dropped like hot potatoes.
Seriously, what you believe has an effect on how you deal with adversity; it has an effect on the coping techniques you use.
Hence, belief is a decision; hence, it is important to have an understanding of how belief operates.
Choose better beliefs and you will get better outcomes.
It can be summed up like this:
Toxic Beliefs That Doom Your Efforts
Make no mistake.
We choose our own beliefs.
There’s nobody sitting behind you with a gun pointed at your head telling you to believe certain things.
There’s nobody threatening to kill you if you don’t believe you are worthless, incapable, and not up to the job.
Nobody’s forcing you to be miserable.
I know that that’s an uncomfortable thing to hear because we’re human beings.
We’re trapped in a prison of weak flesh, and we would love to have somebody or a situation to blame.
You choose your beliefs, and these are the foundation of your reality.
They are the lenses through which you filter out reality.
That’s what you used to read reality.
They’re not forced on you.
You’ve voluntarily assumed them.
You always have a say.
How To Fight Back?
How can you defend yourself against the destructive effects of your beliefs?
Being more judgmental and analytical is the key to success here.
You do not, however, need to transform into a jerk or an asshole as a result of this; rather, it implies that you need to be more suspicious.
Don’t think things have face value.
Somebody might say something is right or true, but filter that information through your experience.
Use your logical reasoning facilities.
Unfortunately, many people are lazy because if somebody we know who we love and respect says something or makes a true claim, we are more likely to pick up on what they say and assume that it’s true.
Why?
In the back of our heads, we filtered that person as someone who has experienced many things and as someone who has achieved credibility and authority in our minds, so why do the heavy work and be skeptical of what they say?
Basically, you transfer the time, effort, and attention to detail that you invested in developing that friend or mentor to their claims.
This is a problem because people make mistakes all the time.
People say the stupidest things all the time, and if you are mentally lazy and adopt what they say wholesale and absorb it, there will be a problem.
Maybe they’re saying something that’s true to them personally, but it’s not some universal truth that applies to all people across the board.
The next thing you need to do is to stop assuming.
Don’t be afraid to look at first principles.
If somebody is making a big claim, don’t be afraid to look like a fool and say, “Hold on, what do you mean by this and by that?”
When you do that, you stop people in their tracks.
You keep them from taking leaps of faith in their argumentation.
Mature, very balanced, and advanced thinking people would appreciate that because they understand clean logic.
They understand a clean progression of argumentation in their mind.
However, people who are lazy or insecure will attack you, and that’s okay.
Be prepared for that but never fear asking to look at first principles because you will be the victim if you allow them to fool you because that’s what’s happening.
Do not assume.
Don’t be afraid to look at the premises behind their conclusion because there might not be a good logical fit.
The bottom line to all of this is that if you adopt the mindset of being more critical and refusing to assume things, you always think you can choose your beliefs; you change your life.
You really do.
Why?
You actively make your beliefs work for you instead of against you.
Please understand that beliefs are two-edged swords.
Learn how to craft them so they are beneficial to you and the people depending on you.
