It’s all about the journey, not the destination.
Most of us have a good deal of knowledge about the world’s history and geography.
While most individuals don’t possess everything they want, at least they have an understanding of what is accessible to them intellectually.
They are well-versed in the realms of the existing and the accessible.
Intellectual knowledge differs significantly from practical experience in a significant way.
All of us want to be in the presence of the things we yearn for.
It’s not enough just to know.
All of our senses and all of our neurological systems must be engaged if we are to properly grasp something that is merely an idea in our heads.
You’ll never be satisfied with a notion or a concept unless you’ve really experienced it for yourself.
When you experience something, it becomes real to you because you can feel it in your neurological system, making it more real to you than if you had only read about it.
As a result, you are able to experience the richness of a notion that has been made real and apparent in the world.
It is possible to know that you are kind, but until and unless you really do something nice, the concept will stay academic and weak.
You can only create an experience by acting on an idea.
What you actually want is to have a personal encounter with compassion.
In other words, we build an experience by putting a concept to use in the real world.
The only way to “see” an abstract notion acquire physical form and be experienced physically is to put your will to work and take action.
Everyone has a deep-seated need to experience what they know intellectually and what they yearn to experience via their sensations or emotions.
That which we have as a concept in our brains and our thoughts, we are always attempting to encounter in the physical and emotional realms.
Action is the quickest and most efficient way to bring your ideas to fruition.
Any concept you have may be put into practice with the power of your will.
Is there any use in having information if you can’t put it to use?
It’s difficult for most individuals to overcome their own limiting ideas and anxieties.
Fears and Restricting Ideas are Only Fantasies
Fears and limiting beliefs are just that: imaginations.
The only thing stopping you from taking action is your perception that doing so would result in some kind of “negative” consequence.
Because it hasn’t happened yet, the concern is that doing “this” will lead to “that” (which it most probably won’t).
Life is Full of Contrasts
All of life’s experiences are framed by contrast.
We live in a world where everything has a subjective value.
Because everything in the universe is connected, there is always an equal and opposite counterpart.
Someone who is born blind would never understand the concept of darkness since he or she has never been exposed to light.
Neale in Conversations with God, Donald Walsh describes it brilliantly when he says that in the absence of that which is not, that which is.
Life is not One-Dimensional
Our lives would be incomplete without the experience of the opposite.
There is no such thing as a one-dimensional experience in life.
It doesn’t exist at all.
Most People Feel Their Lives are in Shambles
The problem is that most individuals believe their lives are in ruins because of the things they don’t like, so they hold on to this false belief.
In actuality, they’re merely getting what they don’t want.
Without cold, there is no hot.
The storm must precede the rainbow.
We can only completely experience life by contrasting the two extremes.
When you begin to perceive life’s events as variations on the same theme, you will be able to enjoy the full range of what it has to offer and begin to live life to the fullest.
Embrace What Isn’t Working in Your Life
When you acknowledge and accept what isn’t working in your life, you’ll have a new perspective on the things you’re unhappy with, both in the here and now.
Because of these negative feelings, you can appreciate the positive ones that come from them: love, life, joy, and passion.
Experience, not what you think of as good or terrible, is what will make your life worthwhile.
You are endowed with the extraordinary ability to bring your deepest wishes to fruition.
When you have the power to act on an impulse of thought and desire, you have the gift of action.
To “test” or “try” is the literal meaning of the word “experience” in its Latin origin.
As soon as you let go of your need to just experience pleasure, you’ll begin to realize the value and even the significance of suffering.
No matter what happens, there is no need to be attached to any particular result.
It doesn’t promise you anything in particular, but it does promise you a full and varied existence full of a wide range of interesting experiences.
Throughout your life, you’ll be able to “record” and “feel” your cerebral knowledge by using all of your senses.
When you know something, you have a strong feeling of assurance that permeates your whole body. “Knowing it in your bones” is a higher level of comprehension that can never be gained via academic study.
Only through taking action will you be able to get a full understanding of the world around you.
