To Succeed: You Must Leave Your Tiresome Work

It’s strange. For example, if you ask a young child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Isn’t it strange that the response is always to judge?

For example, when you ask tiny kids what they want to be when they grow up, they usually say doctor, lawyer, or engineer, as if those are the pinnacle of all vocations. And I’d want to meet a youngster who says he wants to be a butcher. You know, you ask a kid what he wants to be in the future, and they say baggage handler at the airport.

That would have been a fascinating child. But I remember when I was a youngster, I never wanted to do anything conventionally. You know, because your brain simplifies things when you’re a kid.

You don’t conceive of a career as a thing in and of itself; you simply look at the individuals who perform it. And you consider if you want to be like them. So, for example, I had a buddy whose father was a renowned, wealthy doctor, but I never liked him.

I mean, the guy was constantly on the go. And his home smelled like Kinder Nido milk, which I detested. As a result, I didn’t want to be that. I recall wanting to be someone intriguing, you know, joyful and interesting.

And I remember very well, even as a child, wanting money since I came from a poor home. As a result, we had a lot of difficulties. My father was a working-class guy who pushed through life, working 70–80 hours every week.

As a result, money was a problem. So I remember wanting money and wanting to do something incredibly exciting with my life. So that’s what I set out to achieve. But, like everyone else, reality smacked me in the face when I started my first job, which was to study.

As a result, I didn’t have enough money to finish my studies. So I decided to get a job, an entry-level position doing data entry for an airline, through a connection. So I sat there typing away, remembering that it was cargo, air wearables.

It’s an extremely dull job. So I did this for two years, and I recall feeling pretty melancholy after a while.

Because I believe that most of you can relate to the fact that if you do something you don’t love, I mean, who appreciates data entry? Unless you’re high on drugs and sitting there typing, you’re never going to enjoy it.

So that’s what happened to me; I became sad. People who are depressed, on the other hand, are often unaware that they are sad. I mean, people won’t realize I was depressed for a long time until they obtain a professional diagnosis or quit being sad.

So I have been doing this work for two years. And I’ve come to a point where it’s the same thing every single day, which is really dull.

The tension of having to labor five days a week, every day, for around ten hours, to complete a thick pile of variables was not at all comfortable. So I recalled being a youngster and thinking to myself, “Well, this isn’t exciting.” I mean, it’s making me money. However, this is uninteresting.

So I attempted to make it fascinating in order to realize that desire. And I was a youngster who wanted to be fascinated and get money via an entry-level job.

So I did what needed to be done. I saw a trend in the numbers. I noticed that some goods are transported at certain periods of the year. So I devised a strategy. It wasn’t exactly rocket science. It was just an observation. You know, I noticed a trend of particular items moving at certain periods of the year.

And I suggested a strategy to my supervisor. Fortunately, he took me seriously. And he responded, “What the heck, let’s give it a chance.” As a result, we offered big discounts on certain goods at different times of the year.

And, thank God, it worked. As a result, the corporation earned more money. As a consequence, I received a promotion. And I was overjoyed for probably a couple of days. And then I was sad again because that’s how it goes.

You have a tedious job. And that’s exactly what happens to you. But you get engrossed in it. You are pulled into this cocoon of safety.

Knowing that tomorrow there will be nothing out of the norm, I mean, it’s just going to be like today, like the day before.

It is really easy to go to work every day and do the same thing. because you are aware of the result. There are no difficulties, so what will happen to you? Right?

And I see a lot of kids. I mean, I see youthful faces, and you may not be able to connect to this. Consider the following scenario: you’re studying biology. And you unintentionally walked into a corporate governance seminar.

And you’re too timid to speak out. So you simply sat through that two-hour seminar. Imagine doing this for 10 hours a day, every day. It’s not enjoyable. It’s quite sad.

However, for some reason, people do not change. People who perform monotonous tasks keep doing them because they believe that tomorrow will be different. As a result, the equation is that I trade-in.

Now, in order to have a better future, but if you think about it, the future is a notion that encompasses all ideas. Isn’t it usually like this now? It’s always today; the future never comes. What are your plans?

You’ll be doing the same thing every day for the next 20 years. So, what’s going to happen to you in those ways? You work as an accountant. Are you doing your job? So you’ve been promoted to the position of department head. What happens next? What will transpire?

So, what’s the worst-case scenario if you keep doing your dull work every day? The best-case scenario is that you keep doing what you’re doing on a greater scale, and he receives somewhat more money, but you never get wealthy. Never.

So, what are you meant to do now? If you have this issue, if you’re going to perform your work every day, bored, not having enough money, and continuing to do it, I’m sorry, there’s no other way to explain it. This is completely screwed up.

Because if you’re doing it for the money, you’re not going to make the money that you want to earn. And you’re doing the exact same thing. I’m praying for the best.

However, there is no other option. We’ve all heard of the best-case scenario. Consider your father, for example. You know, most of us have dads who have worked for the same firm for 30 years and are still doing the same job. That’s all.

This is your future in a nutshell. When you’re a youngster and you see your father, do you truly want to be like him? Most children will remark, “No, I want to do something else.” So, what’s holding you back?

Why don’t you submit your resignation? Today? You leave and say, “You know what, that’s it.” I’m walking out. I’d want to do something different. People are frequently afraid because they do not want to lose their money.

But that’s not the true reason, since you’re doing it to earn money, but you’re not making enough. So the fact that you’re doing it is the reason you don’t have any money.

Do you see the circular reasoning here? It’s a never-ending cycle. And do you become sucked in? There is nothing difficult about this. Nothing is more intriguing than doing something you don’t love. So, what’s the other option? You do something you like.

But, like most others, I had no idea what I wanted to accomplish when I was a youngster. I’m not sure what I enjoyed, and I feared there was something wrong with me. because all the other kids had worked it out.

I mean, I want to be a doctor or an engineer. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. So, how do you decide what to do? How can you recognize what really attracts you? You?

You must, must, must try it on. There’s no better way to accomplish it; you’ll have to experiment. So the first and most important thing you should do is leave your dull job.

After that, you go and try something else. And then something else, and then something else, until you discover delight in what you do. Then predict how much money you’ll earn.

Because if you do something you like, you will do it well. You’d be shocked at how much money a well-done task earns. People pay money for a well-executed service, after all.

That’s all there is to it. Making money isn’t rocket science. You just do what you like. As a consequence, you’ll be wealthy.

My home experienced a plumbing issue the other day. So I contacted the plumber, and he arrived.

He did not perform well. The identical issue happened. So I contacted a different plumber. And then the new plumber arrived, and let me tell you, it was the most beautiful sight I’d ever seen in my life. He made love to my sink.

I mean, he did an excellent job. He was faultless. He liked his work. Nothing is wrong with it. What’s the problem with that? What’s the harm in becoming a plumber if you like it?

You may do it in whatever area you like. Guess what? I know some bloggers who aren’t even talented. You know, they simply sit at home in a sweater, typing away, with Doritos dust on their T-shirt.

They also earn more money than five engineers. So, what is it about the mundane work that keeps you coming back every day? Consider this. What exactly are you doing?

What do you accomplish by doing that job? Quit! What’s holding you back? Isn’t it nice to go to bed not knowing what the next day may bring?

Here you have it. So that’s what you’ll have to do. The first step is to leave your mundane job. The second stage is to experiment with various options. Go ahead and attempt to be a plumber, or at least to be like that plumber.

Try something new. You know how when you like something, you keep doing it? And it no longer feels like a job. It’s your way of life. You become the man you looked up to as a youngster.

So my experience was that I resigned from my dull job. I was terrified to death. I was very terrified. I’d never been so terrified in my whole life. because I depended on that money. I resigned from my job.

And I launched a company with a couple of lovely people. We now have a multimillion-dollar business. So I think what I’m asking of you is that you change. Don’t be scared.

There’s nothing to lose in this situation. What are you going to lose? Your studio apartment, which you won’t lose since you can do anything else, You can look for food critics on the internet. There are just so many alternatives.

As a result, there is a disconnection from reality. You go about your day, every single morning. And you get this sense that it’s not you doing it as if your awareness is elsewhere in your mind; we all do it, don’t we?

When you think about yourself, you imagine that you are someplace in your thoughts.

And this is a detachment from reality. Your awareness has no physical location.

It is just your own experience. So, if you’re having a horrible day every day and you’re sad, you have the choice to end it. Stop it, find something you like doing, and do it. Do it. You do it. Well. It generates revenue for you.

So, to summarize, I simply want you to know that. It’s a wonderful, nice, fuzzy sensation when you modify something you despise so much, and it’s freeing.

And you go to bed, not knowing what tomorrow will bring. And you’re behaving as well as you possibly can. As a consequence, you become wealthy. That’s it. It makes no difference what the wealthy do. I see those textbooks, you know, people go and study them like it’s Steve Jobs’ daily habit.

It makes no difference. What is the significance of this? I mean, Warren Buffett eats breakfast at a deli and it costs around $3 for a meal. That is not the case, Rich. That is his own experience.

It makes no difference what they do. There is no mystery. They just do what they like. Can you think of a millionaire who is doing something they don’t like? What do you think? They aren’t real.

They all do something they like. That’s all. This is the money-making formula, guys. Solve the problem. So those were some of my thoughts. I hope they were worthwhile to share. Thank you very much for coming.
